Travelers Rest, SC (March 22, 2006) – Three well-known publications recently bestowed kudos on The Cliffs as one of America’s top private golf communities and country clubs.

Judged by an expert panel of six judges who “weighed equally every criterion from services to scenery”, The Cliffs made the inaugural Diamond Award Winners list of best private golf communities alongside these clubs: The Bear’s Club, Bighorn, The Colleton River Plantation, Cordillera, Desert Mountain, Estancia, Isleworth, Kiawah Island, Kuki’o Beach Club, Mirasol, Monterra, Palmetto Bluff, Promontory, Pronghorn, The Reserve (Indian Wells, CA), Reynolds Plantation, Ritz-Carlton Club (Jupiter), Sea Island, Silverleaf, Southern Highlands, Stock Farm, The Santa Lucia Preserve, Vintage Club, and The Yellowstone Club.

With “more than 3,600 residential golf communities in the United States, …we weighed numerous factors – property values, quality of golf, proximity to metro areas, health care and transportation – to find the 50 best places to live,” says Golf Magazine Living’s Joe Passov. The Cliffs at Keowee was named among the Best in the East for its mountain-lake scenery and three championship golf courses: two Tom Fazio designs and one Jack Nicklaus Signature course.

The Golf House, which makes up the first phase of The Club Village at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove, was named runner-up for Golf, Inc.’s Best New Clubhouses of the Year, in the “Under 20,000 square feet” category. Among the judges’ comments were this one by Amy Stevens: “The Old English richness is displayed in every aspect. Women should love the dressing room, and men will be hard-pressed to leave the lounge for golf or home.” Designed by Greenville, SC’s Neal Prince + Partners Architects, Walnut Cove’s Golf House is The Cliffs’ only club facility focused squarely on golf, including spacious lounges, golf shop, and Turnhouse Grille with open-air stone patios.

The Cliffs Communities was recently ranked in the Top 10 Golf Communities in America by Travel + Leisure Golf Magazine, and is now the only private club in the country to have two Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Courses and two Tom Fazio designs.
