The Cliffs Announces Sixth Golf Course | Tom Fazio Design Planned for Keowee Springs

The Cliffs becomes only private club membership in America with two Nicklaus Signature and two Fazio designs

TRAVELERS REST, SC, May 23, 2005 - The Cliffs Communities announced today that it has signed an agreement with renowned golf course designer Tom Fazio to build an 18-hole golf course as an additional amenity in The Cliffs’ newest private master-planned residential neighborhood, The Cliffs at Keowee Springs. This Fazio course brings The Cliffs’ collection of golf courses to six, for a total of 108 holes to be available to Members, and distinguishes The Cliffs as the only private club in the country whose membership includes two Tom Fazio and two Jack Nicklaus Signature designs.

The 18-hole Tom Fazio design for The Cliffs at Keowee Springs course is expected to provide generously shaped fairways and greens with spacious landing areas, perfect for a leisurely round among friends, with junior players, or as a family. Also planned for the Keowee Springs community is a premier golf learning center and state-of-the-art practice facility.

“It is a great pleasure to be partnering with The Cliffs on another innovative course of extraordinary quality and setting,” Tom Fazio explained. “We plan to incorporate a lot of groomed turf, less rough, and more aesthetically-placed bunkers at Keowee Springs to promote a friendlier, more forgiving course for the player. I have six kids, and I feel as if I’m really designing a course that we can all enjoy - one that balances a good challenge with a solid learning experience and a course of great enjoyment in a spectacular environment.”
