News Release | What's New - The Cliffs Communities

Scott Carlton has been named President of The Cliffs Club & Hospitality Group, Inc. and will continue to oversee Membership and Club Operations. With twenty years in the private club industry and more than a decade here at The Cliffs in leadership roles, Scott has been instrumental in the growth and development of our Company.

Geoff Carey has been promoted to Executive Vice President of The Cliffs Club & Hospitality Group, Inc. As Senior Director of Hospitality, Geoff has managed the expansion of The Cliffs' club facilities for the last eight years. Prior to joining The Cliffs, Geoff had extensive hospitality management experience in hotels and clubs and multi-property management experience that has been invaluable to the Club Operation.

Brett Kist, General Manager for The Cliffs at The Vineyards and David Sawyer, General Manager for The Cliffs at The Valley, have also been named Vice Presidents for The Cliffs Club & Hospitality Group, Inc. In addition to their General Manager responsibilities, Brett will work with Geoff to set standards and expectations for golf operations across all facilities and David will ensure that all food and beverage operations offer a consistent level of service and dining experience to the membership.

Sara Beach, The Cliffs Valley Beverage Manager, has been promoted to Food and Beverage Manager of The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards. She began her career with The Cliffs in February of 2007. An alumnus of the College of Charleston, Sara was the general manager of 11 Center Street Wine & Gourmet in Charleston, SC, prior to coming to The Cliffs. Her expertise in the industry will serve beneficial in her new role at Keowee Vineyards.

Also joining the staff at The Cliffs at Keowee Vineyards is Kate Coleman. Kate is a recent graduate of Clemson University where she earned a degree in Parks, Recreation and Tourism. She completed a food and beverage internship at our Valley clubhouse in 2007 and will now be the Assistant Restaurant Manager, Keowee Vineyards clubhouse.

Carey Lapidus has joined The Cliffs at Glassy management team as the Food and Beverage Manager. Carey graduated from the University of Florida with a hospitality management degree. He began his career with the Disney Corporation where for eight years he held progressive roles as Guest Services Manager, Restaurant Manager and Food and Beverage Manager. Most recently, Carey was at the Westin Poinsett Hotel in Greenville, SC.

Nikki McCollum has assumed the role of Member Wellness Programming Coordinator. In this new role she will lead efforts to coordinate The Cliffs’ wellness offerings to members across all communities. Nikki has been with The Cliffs for four years. During her tenure she has served as an associate wellness coordinator and as the wellness center manager for The Cliffs at Keowee Falls.

Promoted to The Cliffs at Keowee Falls Wellness Center Manager role, Sarah Grubb has worked as the center’s Front Desk Coordinator where she built strong relationships with the members. Sarah is a Clemson University graduate and previously directed a martial arts school and co-owned Holistic Health in Clemson, SC.

Justin Malone, 2nd Assistant Golf Professional for the Valley course, was promoted in December from the Vineyards' outside lead for their golf operations. He is a Campbell University graduate where he earned his Professional Golf Management degree.

Aileen Tan has been named Executive Chef at The Cliffs at Walnut Cove. Since joining us in the role of Interim Executive Chef this past October, Aileen has demonstrated a passion for the culinary arts and a sincere desire to provide Members with a memorable dining experience. Aileen has extensive culinary experience which includes several years at The Bistro at the Biltmore.

Adam Sturm has been promoted to Executive Chef for The Cliffs at Keowee Falls. A culinary graduate of Johnson and Wales University, Adam joined The Cliffs in January 2008 as a key part of our culinary team located at La Bastide.

Stanley Garrett, Senior Director of Membership Services, will now also oversee the Property Management Group (PMG). Stanley is currently responsible for The Cliffs’ international properties and Member Services. His background includes a strong combination of operations and financial experience that will enable him to lead the team’s efforts in delivering The Cliffs’ experience whether in a Residence Club or PMG offering.

Ken Perry will report to Stanley in the role of General Manager, PMG. Ken joined The Cliffs in September 2008 as the Vineyards Clubhouse Manager. With more than 10 years experience in private club and resort management, Ken will continue to apply his service and operational expertise to the program. Gretchen Slosser, Property Operations Manager and Maaike Ashley, Housekeeping Manager, will continue reporting to Ken.

Brandy Justus has been promoted at the Document Services Center, taking on additional supervisor responsibilities. Brandy joined The Cliffs in 2007 bringing with her a solid background in efficient production of sales and marketing materials.
