SUCCESS IN WELLNESS STARTS IN YOUR MIND

Behind everything you do is a thought.  Your mind literally conjures up hundreds of thoughts a minute.  Sometimes your thoughts are laser focused and other times they are like sporadic bolts of random energy.  Sometimes your thoughts are positive and empowering, and other times they are negative and disengaging.  Every thought that pops in your head originates from your subconscious mind and is a direct result of your belief system.  If you want to live a healthier, more empowered life, you must develop a more empowering belief system.  Any behavior change starts in your mind.

Here are 4 keys to developing a more empowering belief system:

  1. Write out the empowering belief(s) you’d like to adopt?  Use short powerful affirmations that you’d like to adopt such as: “I’m in God’s hand” or “I am very talented” or “I am lean and healthy” or “I am blessed with financial wealth.”
  2. Consistently condition your mind by repeating the affirmation with a corresponding mental picture several times a day especially right before bed.  The affirmations you select may not be true initially, but repeating it over and over in the right state of mind will help you adopt it as a belief.  Use visualization and guided imagery with the help of meditation and deep breathing to condition your affirmation into a belief.
  3. Ask God to help you adopt your belief.  Pray consistently and fervently asking God to instill your new belief.  Use Biblical scripture to inspire you such as “Let the Spirit change your way of thinking” (Ephesians 4:23) or  “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.”  (Romans 12:2)
  4. Embrace absolute truth.  The only way to shatter any false belief is with the TRUTH.  Understand that there is a difference between absolute truth and relative truth.  Relative truth may seem true to you (false belief), but in reality it’s not absolutely true.  Examples of relative truths are, “The world is flat, weight loss is hard, I’m not good enough, I control my destiny.”  Understand that the only absolute truth is the WORD of God.
