Five simple ways to improve your health and well-being:
- HEALTHY EATING: Eat from all food groups every day, in modest servings. Three to five servings from high-fiber grains, three to four vegetable servings, two to three fruit servings, two to four protein servings (beans, dairy and low fat meats). And go lightly on fats, salt, and sweets.
- SMART EXERCISE: Move your body at least 30 minutes a day. Over time, work up to 60 minutes a day of moderate, enjoyable physical activity.
- SPIRITUAL CONNECTION: Meditate in silent appreciation. Pray for help and guidance, and the ability to do God''s will. Worship in your own way, every day.
- SOCIAL CONNECTION: Call friends, go to support groups, attend church, civic and art events. Take an education course.
- REST: Rest is breaking from your routine and finding ways to let go of stress like meditation, spending time outdoors and focusing on nature. Rest is also getting plenty of sleep. Getting adequate sleep is one of the most important components of optimum health.
