So you slipped off your food plan, and had a few ice-cream sundaes, or a bag of chips or cookies. Even though you might have regretted it, use this episode as a learning experience. How did you felt afterwards? Did you feel stuffed, tired, headachy, and fat? Did you feel GUILTY???
Pay attention to what caused you to overeat. Look closely into the root cause of this behavior. What did you really need to feel better instead of pigging-out? What was going on just before it happened? Write it down or discuss it with a friend.
Now, use this awareness to change the future. Instead of reaching for the cookie jar, give yourself what you really need: a nap, a walk, a good conversation to let your feelings out, a change of scenery, a phone call to a friend, or an honest talk with God. It's not a mistake if you learn from it! |
