One of the most important steps to optimizing your personal health and well-being is to learn how to tap into the amazing power of your mind. If you desire to adopt any healthy habit or get rid of an old way of doing something, you must decide to CHANGE. In other words, to change any part of your life, you must first change the way you think. Change always starts in your mind. The way you think determines the way you feel, and the way you feel influences the way you act. It is your actions that determine your behavior, which ultimately dictates your destiny.
Behind everything you do is a thought. Your mind literally conjures up hundreds of thoughts a minute. Sometimes your thoughts are laser focused and other times they are like sporadic bolts of random energy. Sometimes your thoughts are positive and empowering and other times they are negative and disengaging. Where do your thoughts originate? Every thought originates from your subconscious mind and is a direct result of your core belief system. If you want to live a healthier, more empowered life, you must develop a more empowering belief system.
Here are 4 keys to developing a more empowering belief system:
-
Write out the empowering belief(s) you would like to adopt. Use short powerful belief statements that you’d like to adopt such as:
-
a. “I’m in God’s hand” b. “You, God, are blessing me with abundant health” c. “I am lean and healthy” d. “I am blessed with financial wealth”
- Consistently condition your mind with the belief statement along with a picture of the affirmed. The belief statement you select my not be true initially, but repeating it over and over in the right state of mind will help you adopt it as a belief. Your repetitive thoughts do become your reality. Using emotional images while in a relaxed meditative state will help you embrace the affirmation as a belief.
- Ask God to help you change your beliefs. Pray consistently and fervently asking God to instill your new belief. Use Biblical scripture to inspire you.
- a. “Let the Spirit change your way of thinking.” Ephesians 4:23
b. “Let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.” Romans 12:2
- Embrace absolute truth. The only way to shatter any false belief is with the TRUTH. Understand that there is a difference between absolute truth and relative truth. Relative truth may seem true to you (false belief), but in reality it is not “absolutely” true. Examples of relative truths are, “The world is flat,” “Weight loss is hard,” and “I am not good enough.” Understand that the only absolute truth is the WORD of God.
