According to The National Weight Registry, there are seven common denominators of people who have been overweight, lost at least 30 lbs, and kept it off for at least one year. Here is what they have in common:
- Expect failure but keep trying.
- Do not deny yourself.
- Weigh often but not daily.
- Exercise or be physically active for at least one hour daily.
- Add little bits of physical activity in your daily routine like parking farther away, taking the stairs, house cleaning and gardening.
- Eat a low saturated fat, high complex carbohydrate diet (balanced diet).
- Eat at least five times a day (eat small meals often).
