Bethany R. Long, MS, RN, CPHQ
Beth Long is the PinnacleCare Director of Southeast Operations and brings a diverse healthcare background to the Members at The Cliffs Communities. Her expertise includes quality and risk management, hospital and long-term care management as well as clinical nursing skills.
Beth began her career as a staff nurse at Saint Francis Hospital in Greenville, S. C. As a registered nurse, she served in many management roles and was eventually promoted to the position of Chief Nursing Officer. Prior to joining PinnacleCare, Beth was the Director of Risk Management at Mary Black Health System.
Beth’s diverse experience in the healthcare field has helped her to become a confident, informed and committed advocate who is passionate about the personal wellness of PinnacleCare Members. She finds her PinnacleCare role to be a wonderful opportunity to meet her new neighbors at The Cliffs Communities and help them become part of the PinnacleCare family.
In her free time, Beth spends enjoys golfing, dancing, snow and water skiing, scuba diving and running with her husband of 35 years, Ron.

all over the country, supported by our Chief Medical Officer Dr. Miles Varn, and Medical Director, Dr. Denis Pauze.
Miles Varn, M.D.
Dr. Miles J. Varn, Chief Medical Officer, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Varn joined PinnacleCare after 15 years of innovation and leadership at Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency and Trauma Center. He was an attending physician for a Level I trauma center with 75,000 patient visits per year. In 2004, Dr. Varn was awarded the Inova Health System’s Service Excellence Legend Award for extraordinary patient care.
Dr. Varn is responsible for bringing new medical advances to the attention of PinnacleCare and its 1,000+ Members, overseeing high standards for the company’s growing legion of PinnacleCare Advocate™ teams throughout the nation and serving as the chief contact with the PinnacleCare Medical Advisory Board, as well as other leading medical specialists, physicians and medical centers worldwide.
He earned his Medical Degree from the University of Virginia School of Medicine in 1988.
Denis Pauze, M.D.
Dr. Denis R. Pauze, PinnacleCare’s Medical Director, is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians and American Academy of Pediatrics. Prior to joining PinnacleCare, Dr. Pauze worked at Inova Fairfax Hospital Emergency and Trauma Center. While there, he was an attending physician for a level I trauma center with 75,000 patient visits per year. Dr. Pauze specializes in emergency medicine. He has interests in preventative medicine and geriatric emergency medicine. In addition, Dr. Pauze completed his fellowship at Inova Fairfax Hospital for Children in pediatric emergency care.
As Medical Director at PinnacleCare, Dr. Pauze is responsible for overseeing, assisting and bringing new medical advances to the company’s PinnacleCare Advocate™ teams throughout the nation. Dr. Pauze earned his Medical Degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine in 1995. In addition, he has co-authored several articles on Inhalation Anthrax as he was involved in the care of one of the postal workers from the 2001 Anthrax cases. Denis lives in Arlington, Virginia with his wife. They enjoy hiking and kayaking in their spare time.
