Making a Difference at The Cliffs
When Jim Anthony began The Cliffs Communities more than 20 years ago, he had a vision of creating a better life for people in the Carolinas – a better life that extended beyond the boundaries of The Cliffs Communities. Today, we remain passionate about the importance of being able to have a helping, positive and lasting effect in the community.
In a unique program of “giving back” The Cliffs Communities established The Cliffs Family Partnership to support four important philanthropic organizations. Rick Fisher, Director of The Cliffs Foundations, spearheads The Cliffs’ relationship with these organizations and our philanthropic vision. With each purchase of a company homesite, The Cliffs Communities will donate 2% of the net purchase price to one of these four 501 c (3) organizations.
Pinnacle Partners
Every child deserves an outdoor experience
With an ultimate goal of allowing the children of the Carolinas to enjoy the benefits of a true outdoor experience, Pinnacle Partners has amassed numerous land tracts within the 40,000-acre Jocassee Gorges for hiking trails, biking trails, canoeing and water sport activities. The Pinnacle Partners talent pool of volunteers includes engineers, experts in land acquisition, construction specialists and Cliffs’ property owners who work together to provide an outdoor experience for children and families that will promote a lifestyle of fitness and an appreciation of nature.
Pinnacle Partners connects organizations such as scouting, churches, schools and Young Life to the opportunities available in these recreation camps and activity areas by allowing these groups access to these protected properties.
Zest Quest Associates, Inc.
Getting kids on a health kick for life
Zest Quest® is an organization of wellness coaches and volunteers with a mission to educate and inspire children to choose and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Television, computer time, lack of safe playing environments, questions of safety walking to and from school, the proliferation of fast food and parents’ hectic work schedules have contributed to a generation that is 40% overweight, where one out of three children will develop Type II diabetes. This will be the first generation that is not expected to have a longer life span than its parents.
Working together with the staff of local and regional elementary schools, the Zest Quest team has created comprehensive programming that encourages children to practice good nutrition and keep active. Teaching a curriculum of “7 Daily Healthy Habits” and encouraging both kids and faculty members to be enthusiastic about the benefits of healthy habits, the Zest Quest program not only leads to better physical health, but better intellectual and emotional health, as well.
Less than four years since the inception of this program, Zest Quest has achieved tangible results in many South Carolina and North Carolina schools and includes a staff of a dozen Zest Quest Wellness Coaches and over 100 Zest Quest Mentor volunteers comprised of law enforcement officers, fire fighters, athletes, health care specialists and Cliffs’ property owners.

The Cliffs American Patriot Scholarship Fund
A meaningful way to say “thank you”
We all owe a debt of gratitude to the many service men and women who are making an extraordinary contribution to the security of our country. Many have paid the ultimate price while helping secure our opportunity to live in freedom. In an effort to assist these families, The Cliffs has researched and selected a scholarship fund to receive our support.
The Military Officers Association of America (MOAA) established the American Patriot Scholarship Program soon after the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001. Designed to help the children of uniformed service personnel who have died in active service, the scholarship fund supports children under the age of 24 of officers, enlisted personnel, Guard members and reservists.
The Cliffs is proud to support the MOAA, and we encourage you to visit their website to become acquainted with the many services they provide.
Parkland Trust, Inc.
A promise for the future
The pristine, natural beauty of The Cliffs Communities and surrounding areas has led many of our associates and property owners to support Parkland Trust, Inc., an organization dedicated to preserving scenic wilderness in South Carolina and North Carolina for the purposes of conservation and education. It is the firm belief of this organization that our most valuable resource is pristine wilderness, and the preservation, availability and access to these areas is important for spiritual, physical and emotional well being.
This group of volunteers pursues opportunities including outdoor education programs for children and adults to instill a love of nature, and projects designed to protect and preserve the wilderness by reestablishing trees and indigenous plants endangered in this area.
