The 78-player, 36-hole event will feature an international field of junior boys and girls ages 12-18. The first round will be held Saturday, April 26, with the final round being played Sunday, April 27. Tee times will begin both days at 8 a.m. off the first and 10th tees. An awards ceremony will immediately follow play Sunday.

The tournament field, which currently includes locals Corbin Mills (Easley, S.C.), Crawford Reeves (Greenville, S.C.), Austin Ernst (Seneca, S.C.), Stephanie Wagstaff (Asheville, N.C.), and Anna Martin (Piedmont, S.C.), will be formally announced next week.

Select juniors who will be participating in the event will also take part in a Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament at The Cliffs at Keowee Falls on April 25 at 8 a.m.

The Junior-Am allows local amateur golfers to play a competitive round of golf with future stars of the game. Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Davis Love III, Justin Leonard, Charles Howell III, Paula Creamer, Morgan Pressel and Grace Park are just a few of the thousands of talented players who participated in AJGA Junior-Ams when they were teenagers.

Supporting golf at the grass-roots level, Junior-Ams allow the AJGA to make contributions to local junior golf charities and programs in hosting communities. The proceeds of the AJGA Cliffs Championship Junior-Am Fundraising Tournament will benefit Zest Quest (www.zestquest.org), Linking Girls to Golf and the AJGA’s ACE Grant (www.ajga.org). Over the past decade, AJGA Junior-Ams have raised more than $1 million for junior programs in communities across the United States.

The Cliffs at Keowee Falls is the second Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at The Cliffs, featuring rolling, mountainous terrain and spectacular views. Located at the southernmost edge of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in the heart of the Carolina Preserve on the shores of Lake Keowee, the 160-acre Keowee Falls golf course marries a challenging par-72, 7,171-yard layout with the incomparable aesthetics of a pure, core golf experience.

The Cliffs is a collection of luxury communities in the temperate Carolina Preserve, a region encompassing hundreds of thousands of acres of protected parklands at the southernmost edge of The Blue Ridge Mountains between Asheville, N.C., and Greenville, S.C. The Cliffs are known for our renowned golf course designs and a unique membership that offers an unequaled variety of opportunities in breathtaking locations around the world. Founded on enduring principles of stewardship, our communities create an atmosphere of conservation, philanthropy and wellness that results in a partnership between The Cliffs’ associates and property owners, enabling them to live rich, full lives.

The American Junior Golf Association is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to the overall growth and development of young men and women who aspire to earn college golf scholarships through competitive junior golf. The AJGA, the largest Association of its kind, has an annual junior membership (boys and girls ages 12-18) of approximately 5,000 junior golfers from 49 states and 30 foreign countries.

Titleist, the AJGA’s National Sponsor, has been the catalyst and driving force behind the Association’s success since 1989. Rolex Watch USA, which is in its third decade of AJGA support, became the inaugural AJGA Premier Partner in 2004. In 2007, after 12 years of support, Polo Ralph Lauren became the AJGA’s second Premier Partner.

AJGA alumni have risen to the top of amateur, collegiate and professional golf. More than 160 former AJGA juniors currently play on the PGA and LPGA Tours and have compiled more than 300 wins. AJGA alumni include Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Jim Furyk, Stewart Cink, Davis Love III, Cristie Kerr, Pat Hurst, Paula Creamer, Brittany Lincicome, Morgan Pressel and Julieta Granada.
