Spa Finder's First-Ever "Aspen Spa Day" Attracts Over 2,500 Visitors to Landmark Consumer Spa Event

Event represents “evolution” in spa marketing

New York, NY (August 7, 2007) – Exceeding turnout expectations almost threefold, Spa Finder’s first-ever Aspen Spa Day attracted more than 2,500 spa enthusiasts to downtown Aspen on Saturday, July 28th.

Presented by Spa Finder, the world’s largest spa marketing and media company, the inaugural, one-day event showcased treatments, cuisine, and product demonstrations from more than 25 of the world’s leading spas and spa lifestyle companies.  Building on the event’s success, the company will be producing a larger-scale, multi-day consumer spa event, The Spa Experience, in New York’s Vanderbilt Hall in Grand Central Terminal from October 31 through November 3, 2007.

According to Spa Finder COO Sallie Fraenkel, the huge and enthusiastic turnout for Aspen Spa Day confirmed that a growing number of consumers are eager to incorporate elements of the spa lifestyle, such as travel, wellness, and beauty, into their everyday lives.

“The success of Aspen Spa Day represents an evolution in spa marketing in terms of how the industry interacts and connects with consumers,” said Fraenkel. “We’ve always believed that people need to feel the massage, taste the cuisine, and experience the treatment in order to appreciate what the spa lifestyle is all about. Our exhibitors saw first-hand that consumer events like Aspen Spa Day can help them expand their audience and grow their businesses.”

Exhibitors at Aspen Spa Day ranged from title sponsors Bare Escentuals and The Cliffs Communities to Thailand’s Chiva-Som and New York’s Mandarin Oriental to spa beauty companies like Pevonia Botanica and Sothys Paris. Many of the exhibitors ran out of their product samples before the event’s conclusion, while others sent for extra massage tables in order to perform more treatments.

Another major highlight of Aspen Spa Day was the Spa Café, which featured signature dishes from five award-winning chefs aligned with the world’s top-rated spas, including:

  • Master Chef Allen Susser from Pritikin Longevity Center & Spa
  • Executive Chef James Boyce from Montage Resort & Spa
  • Executive Chef Andy Arndt from Ojai Valley Inn & Spa
  • Executive Chef Toni Robertson from Mandarin Oriental New York
  • Executive Chef Paisarn Cheewinsiriwat from Chiva-Som

More than 5,500 portions of spa cuisine were consumed in the first two hours of the event.  The five chefs were honored the night before at The Healthy Gourmet Spa Soiree, an event presented by The Aspen Center for Integral Health, which was also a local sponsor of Aspen Spa Day. 

Additionally, Aspen Magazine served as local media sponsor, Aspen Club and Spa as local spa sponsor, and Nutrisoda and Tasmanian Rain provided beverage product for the event.  A full list of sponsor and exhibitors can be found at www.aspenspaday.com/exhibitorlist.
